Hello All,

I had a question for those with the C4E torrent rain jacket, I was wondering if it was too loud for bow hunting? I was considerring getting one before the sale ends on 4/3, but wasn't sure if I should just look into a water resistant jacket/outer layer. I plan on using a first lite base layer and the chama hoody as a second layer, and possibly this jacket as a wind stopper/rain jacket. I'll be hunting early september bow season in the Colorado mountains.

Any suggestions? Alternatives?

thanks!

I have the pants, i havent hunted in them yet but they are probably as quiet as my sitka cloudburst. I wouldnt say that it would be my primary jacket for wearing all the time, but as an option for the rare rain storm I think it would work great.

I just picked up the jacket last week. I am very surprised at how quiet it is. Its pretty soft so that helps a ton. For the price, I don't see how you could go wrong. Although I haven't tested mine yet, I am happy with the purchase.

thanks for the comment!

Any suggestions on a water resistant jacket that can pull double duty for cold weather and an occasional light shower? I would like to keep the price around $150-$200

Hey your welcome! The only other jacket I have experience with that does what your looking for is the KUIU Guide Jacket. Great jacket in my opinion. There are lots of options though. I happen to have one for sale in the classifieds ;-)

there is a little noise to them, but overall pretty quiet, and like others i have not used mine yet.....but i am willing to bet they are even more quiet when wet, also a little background noise from a light rain should be enough to cover the slight noise these make

I typically just order my rain stuff a bit big and then when its really cold and snowy here (Late november hunts) I just layer up under them. The last thing you want is to get a really insulated rain coat. They say they are "breathable" but boy that stuff makes me sweat like CRAZY. cheaper this way too.

I am interested to hear how these work too. I noticed according to the specs they are lighter than both the Kuiu and the Kryptek and have an equivalent breath-ability rating.

I have recently gained an appreciation for using my rain gear as an outer layer, instead of just using it for rain. On my last trip I used my Chugach bottom as my outer layer and I liked the results. It kept me warm, dry, and was not noisy. I will be trying this again on next weeks outing. My only concern with rain gear is long term durability. It's too expensive to wear it out and have to replace it every other season.

I think the Torrent rain gear from Core4 is really quite as far as rain gear goes and with the pit zips it breaths pretty well also. Only a few days left to get the 25% off.
