Bullet design question

Hornady bullets seem to have a really long bearing surface when I compare them to other bullets I have on hand. This started me thinking. It would seem like the ideal bullet bearing surface is the minimal amount required to impart a sufficient torque force to cause stable rotation and any more bearing surface is unnecessary friction causing velocity loss. Is this correct? I’m guessing it’s probably harder to consistently produce bullets with long noses which would at least in theory provide better BCs.

Thanks,

Kendall

There's a Hornady video out there somewhere on the bearing surface a such. Might be worth a look.
