Thought I might share this with all of you. Been looking at trying to build my own wood stove for a while and came across the Heineken keg. This is the first time I tried doing this and it came out pretty cool. I'll be using this is in my Mountainsmith LT. I did my first burn in yesterday and it worked great puts out a lot of heat ,but it doesn't have a long burn time,as I expected,It's not as light as my light outdoors titanium stove that I use in my SO 6 man Tipi, it weighs in at 2 lbs. 8 oz.but I have less than $80 invested in this. I got all my stove pipe parts from Tigoat which was where most of the $80 went to. It's still compact enough and fits in the bottom of my DT3. It was a win win for me Got 5 liters of Beer and A stove. Let me know what ya'll think.

Yeah I'll get some pics of it, everything fits in side the keg. Stove pipe rolls up and the legs are removable.

Pretty cool. What material is the little keg made out of? My concern is that if it's aluminum, it might get too hot and melt.

They are made out of a light gauge steel , I was wondering if they were aluminum myself. But read that they are steel,I burned it it for several hours and had the pipe glowing at the bottom, so far so good.

Not yet ,I have the Tigoat stove Jack ,waiting on the wife to sew it in for me. I just picked up the Mountainsmith a few weeks ago.

Not to be a debbie downer and I love your ingenuity but Id be a bit worried being in a closed out tipi with that thing even after you have burned it a few times. you never know what they used in that steel to make those and it maybe pretty toxic for you. Also that residual paint you can still see on it. Anyway to test for gas releases in your shelter just to make sure your not breathing something thats going to make you grow another Leg after a few nights? :p Guess I really dont know enough about it to really be of any assistance but just be safe and do a few tests. Hate to see you fall out from something that was released by heating that up. Loving the Keg idea though. That is straight Mancave cool stuff right there.

I'm really digging that. Nice work. I like the price point too. Most diy stoves seem to end up expensive enough that you might as well just buy one.

I thought about the fume thing and was planning on bringing home our confined space sniffer from work after I burn it in a few more times. Set up in my mountain shelter LT and get some readings, or I'll just stick a canary in there and wait😀
