I bought some Lowa Evo Extreme's last year and I've got them broke in pretty good. Probably got 60 miles on them or so. Really comfortable boot. The only problem I'm having is my heel still slipping when on steep inclines and rubbing which is leading to a hot spot. I haven't got any blisters yet but I feel sometimes I was at the edge of getting some. I'm wearing wool socks with no liners. I plan on purchasing some liners but haven't yet. I also have Lathrop and Sons Synergy insoles in my boots.

I saw some Dr. Schol's heel cups at Walmart and thought about putting them in. Would this help? Been reading on lacing techniques also.

Thanks for any help.

For a lacing technique try this one. I have looked up alot of techniques and never found anything like this one. The salesman at Schnees two weekends showed it to me while trying on a pair of their Beartooth Mid boots.

Lace up through the eyelets and on the last eyelet before you go to hooks at the ankle/foot transition you have two choices. Lace straight to the top hook at the top of the boot and then lace down back to the ankle/foot transition or I have modified it a little and feel it works even better for me when I lace up through the eyelets and then lace through the one hook that sits lower and back from the rest to help hold your heel in and from there I just straight up to the top and work my way back down finishing one hook above the ankle/foot transition.

Hope that made sense. If not I can probably get a picture and put it up tonight.

With the Lathrop and Sons insole I don't think it would be a good idea to go and add a heel cup of some type in addition to that insole just seems like you would be working backwards there. If lacing doesn't work the next best option I can think of is a Super Feet insole because they have some pretty thick heels on them and would probably lift your heel up enough depending on your arch and which model Super Feet you choose.

Thanks doverpack12 I'll give that a try. I think I understand what you were explaining. Pics would be nice if get a chance to post some.

This is the technique that was shown to me I tried to describe above.

This is my preferred version of the technique

They both finish the same just one hook higher or lower depending on how you started.

(this would be the first picture finished and tied)

Doverpack: Going to try your lace method on a pair of heel blistering Kenetrek hikers - they get one more chance to work or they're getting the same treatment that a unreliable lying F-1 chronograph got. Over 200 miles and 2 trips back to Kenetrek is about all the patience I can give them. Thanks.
PS: I should have bought some Leuko Tape stock when I bought the Kenetrek's.

I don't know if it will fix a bad slip but those Tibets had maybe 1/8"+ slip and now they are rock solid. Not one bit of movement even with weight on steep inclines.
