Personally I love the BTX paired with the 65 objective. Last year I sold my 95 objective and ordered a 115 objective but due to covid it took months to show up. But I had the 65mm and put it to use with the BTX. It was great. I would not backpack with the BTX with any objective but if I did I feel like the 65 married to the BTX would serve you fine. And its nice using it from the truck. Fatrascal.

Curious as to why you'd want that combo? Backcountry use? I have all the components for it, but can't think of any situation that'd it'd be beneficial for me. The BTX with the 95 was superior to the BTX with the 80 through my eyes. Now I just leave it on the 115 because obviously it's bulky anyways and the 115 will gather the most light for the BTX.

backcountry use. just curious what the 20ish ozs saved add up to in anybodys view. i realize that it seems pretty negligible to the overall weight but it allows you to bring the atx/btx/65 at a +8 oz weight penalty to the btx/95 or 115 combo. what do ya think?

I wouldn't personally want to pack that, but I guess it would depend the situation you were in. 90% of the time I pack 15×56s on my chest and pack the 95 with the STX in my pack for day hunts. If it's extended trips 3+ days, I will switch to the 12×42NLs and Kowa 554. My BTX rarely rarely goes in my pack. I will say the BTX and 115 7 miles into the backcountry would be pretty damn nice though, LOL.

I think the btx eye piece is big and bulky. But if you don't mind carrying it then I think it is a beneficial tool and well worth it. There was a time that I carried 10x binoculars on my neck, 15x in my pack and 80mm spotting scope and a full sized aluminum Manfrotto tripod. But I was 20 years younger. If I could carry the btx with 65 objective and I was 30 years old then I would. But I'm happy with just the bare essentials nowadays. Fatrascal.

Not sure if OP is still following this but I tested the BTX with 65, 80, and 95 objectives. I ended up going with the 80mm. 65 was no slouch and for a size/weight conscious guy would not be a bad choice. The 80mm was noticably brighter and has better resolution, especially in fading light. The 95 is excellent but I liked the increase FOV of the 80 and it also balanced better on my va5 head without having to use the balance rail. Also 80mm with the extender was just right but with the 95 it seemed like too much magnification and a darker image, if that makes sense.
