Hello, friends. Where are there more brown bears these days — Seward or Cooper Landing? I do not mean Seward peninsula. In either or both places I will be hiking 5 to 10 miles in and I’m not planning on doing any boat hunting. Regardless, where are there more brown bears

We saw several bears around Coopers Landing last year. I know there were a few attacks as well. I would call a few fishing guides in that area. They should be in the know.

We have much better luck on our baits for brownies in the Seward area, but I think they’ll be more visible around CL.

I would tend to agree with this assessment. Cooper Landing area bears are generally in more contact with fishermen, hikers etc, than Seward area brownies. They are seen there very often all summer long.
I can’t recall ever actually seeing a brownie in Seward area after several years there. Tracks, yes. Live bear, no. They tend to stay well hidden in the Seward area.
