Bowtech Deadlock screws seized

Anyone shooting a bowtech with deadlock cams ever have an issue with the little lock screw seizing up? I only turned the screw counterclockwise maybe two full rotations then it started to be a pain to tighten until one recently I stripped the head so the Allen wrench won’t bite. I can still adjust the cam cause it’s unlocked, but seems like a crap design on Bowtechs part.

Could have been user error so why I’m seeing if anyone else has this issue.

I’m going to try and see if they’ll send me new parts. The screw and lock tight is worthless now

Not only will the lock screws strip. But the adjustment screws will lock up and strip as well. I had to use my local shop for warranty work. Bowtech will replace the cams entirely.

I just got my Revolt X back from the shop with new deadlock cams. I haven't adjusted it yet. I'm considering use thread lube/ anti sieze before adjusting this time around.

I'm a Bowtech fan and the deadlock is great when it works. But the hardware is a weakness.

I was using new T-handle hex drivers on the cams that stripped. So I don't think it was worn tools or user error.

My shop did mention a tweak in the deadlock design this year. I haven't compared yet.

If you just need to replace the lock screws, 10/32 NF x 3/8 cup points should work. These didn't help me because my actual adjustment screws stripped out as well.

Was it a no-hassle kind of thing or did you have to do any convincing? I had one warranty issue with an sr6 and they took care of it in a day. The bow is shooting great, so it hasn't been a priority of mine to get fixed, bit if it's an easy thing I will look into it.

I've got a pretty good relationship with my Bowtech dealer so that may have helped. They acted like I was the only one in the world that has ever had this problem though. I knew that wasn't true, you can find some guys discussing this on archery talk. I think it took about three weeks to get my bow back.

Thanks all for the replies this is good to know when I go to the bowshop. Sounds like it’s common issue.
I sincerly hope it is not a common issue.
I also see many posts of the Flex Guard bearing failures on Bowtech bows.
I am really worried about my bow now, sigh...

So I'm correct in reading that 3 regular posters here have had issues with this?

Kinda seems like a lot to me.

Admittedly I have as much fun fine tuning that as I do much else at the archery club.

My issue with the bottom cam is that the allen head has stripped for the worm drive. My top cam the locking screw is seized and efforts to break it free have resulted in that head being stripped. I can adjust the worm drive with a lot of resistance, but I won't and dont have much need unless I make a big change. Swapping out cams would be a big change, and I know when I had a cam.ossue with my SR6, they just gave me a new bow rather than trying to swap cams.

Thing is how long have these been out now? I am admittedly leary of the system because of some of these issues. Might be a torx head could have helped a lot. Most people probably won't have issues with it, they will set and forget. I'm constantly playing with things. I have stripped a few of the Allen heads that come with the Mathews mods. Fortunately they include new fasteners with each mod.

I think it's a very intriguing system, just not sure the kinks are worked out yet.

The screw steel they use seems very soft. I am aware of other folks with the same issue. I think I have been through two summers with the Reckoning.

I don't think a torx would solve the issue because the issue is the worm drive starts to get resistance and I'm some cases seizes, and the lock screen seems to seize as well. So the heads strip out trying to work through the resistance or break the seize. The heads stripping seems to just be a symptom of the real issue.
