Bowhunting sunglasses?

Possibly off subject . I also have very blue eyes and am not sure what it is you men are referring too ? Is eye color an actual factor related to this subject ? Interesting topic.

I agree Rosin....

I avoid wearing my rx glasses by marking my sight tape. My 70 is my slider so I use a sharpie and run a solid line thru it so I can see it w/o glasses on. Them My other 80,90,100 are just dotted heavily so can stop the dial respectively.
I personally would hate to have to wear rx glasess to hunt in, with rain, fog reflection etc..

Sun glasses is another beast all together.
I have yet to have to wear them. But I seem to remember shooting with them this summer at my range. I don't recall any issues as I reflect back.

I have battled with the glasses vs contacts decision for several years now. I am very blind without either and I'd just be aiming at a big brown blob if I didn't wear either. I am ineligible for Lasik due to a family history of Keratoconus. I used to wear contacts all the time, but I absolutely hate putting them in first thing in the morning when I'm tired and groggy. As such if it's early season and I'm not planning on a physical day (fogging not an issue) then I will wear glasses. However if I was wearing contacts I'd still wear non-prescription sunglasses, but I suspect those do not create nearly as much refraction and distortion issues.

I think they are only referring to the blue eyed folks being light sensitive and not that this topic affects blue eyes more than any other color.

I don't pay much for my sunnies because I tend to lose them. $35 max. Hunting is the only time I don't wear them because I don't shoot well with them.

if you have blue eyes you are destined to greatness in killing animals.
You will see things the brownies and greeners cant.
Everyone knows Blue eyes only cry in the rain, but all other weather are very sensitive and pick up on any movement.
I've heard it said dont you make my brown eyes blue cause they didn't think they could handle it.

Seriously I think blue eyes are a color that is generally speaking more sensitive to bright lights.
I know mine are- I cant stand the optometrist..... my eyes water like a fountain when he turns on his 10 million candle power light and puts that thing in my eye.......

It sounds like your draw length is too long. There are lots of folks who wear glasses and shoot just fine.

I could shorten my draw length 4" and that doesn't change where my sight line is across my nose. Ya, I've seen folks shoot with glasses......but I'm not one of them. Doesn't matter how I try........if I turn more open to look more in front of my nose (i.e. not through the glasses frame), then I can't line up my elbow, anchor, peep, and sight all in a straight line.

As for the blue eyes.......people with blue eyes, red or blonde hair, and fair skin......are very sensitive to the light. Perhaps that's why so many of them live in Scandinavia.

But light diffraction definitely has an impact on accuracy. Try shooting 60 yards with the sun at an angle where it shines through your peep.....like 10-30 degrees from in front of you. Then do the same shooting with the sun behind you. It makes a difference.

I wear sunglasses all the time and I do not notice a difference in impact with them on or off. I still have in my possession every pair of sunglasses I've purchased since 1999, I do not buy cheap stuff which may or may not make a difference.

This does not mean there isn't a difference in poi/poa, if there is I'm not good enough or smart enough to notice. I've never taken a shot at an animal with them on, it has been too early, too late or cloudy enough not to need them.

I do wear sunglasses pretty much all the time outside unless its actively raining . Ive lived on or next to the ocean and in the Mountains for 20 years or so and protect my eyes but I do always find myself removing my shades when its time to shoot an arrow though. I'm just more consistent without the eyewear in place. I use a croakie type bandolier to just let my shades dangle so I dont have to worry about them . It would be nice if blue eye color was an advantage. I need all the help I can get . Ha!
