Ever had new boots that didn't feel just right or had a hot spot that you thought would be fine so you kept them only to find out you could never make them work. Like the title says any red flag issues that you wish you would have paid attention to so you wouldn't have wasted your time and money on.

New boots I have now have a lot of slipping in the arches and some pain in the arches when I have the treadmill cranked all the way up. Thanks guys in advance for any input.

Have you tried putting a new insole in? The green superfeet insoles locked my heel in much better from the stock insole.

Probably super subjective like all things footwear...but in my experience, I can never break a boot in to fit, this goes double for stiff, heavy soled boots. If the heel doesnt fit right from the get go, it isnt going to, Ill just get blisters. If the toe box feels small and pinches, or a touch to short, it isnt gonna get noticeably better and in some cases only gets worse after my feet start to swell.

The last couple springs I would order boots, la sportivas, crispis, danners, scarpa, kenetreks, hanwags, and every year I return them. The couple I've tried to make work, I just end up selling because they dont work.

Salomons quest and x alp work for me
Lowa tibets work for me

Havent tried schnees or Lathrop and sons, but would like to.

Try some different insoles if your able. Had a pair of Scarpa's that I had heal slop issues with. Changed insole and secured things up in back. Great fit now

Yeah, crucial to try on boots beforehand. I bring the wool socks I wear....and a pair of favorite insoles....screw it.....fit is everything. I've made that mistake before....buying a boot others liked only to find that little bend in the wrong spot for my feet just didn't cut it.

I like that ramp they have at REI where you can test them going uphill/downhill......

1 season and done

Seam seal them...works great [see thread on leaky boots]
