As a follow up to another recent post of mine - I'm bringing my 8 year old with my on a cow elk hunt in October at 8000 feet and need to find some suitable boots for him. We are flatlanders from MN and the snow boots aren't going to cut it for hiking. I'll bring them along for camp to make sure he stays warm.

Wondering if anyone can recommend a good kids hiking boot. I've been looking at some online including REI but the reviews look pretty poor for waterproofing and durability. Even if available I don't think I'd be buying some something comparable to what I'm wearing because of cost and how fast his feet grow but was hoping for something durable enough that my 6 year old could grow into them. Thanks!

I bought my daughters some Keens from REI last year on sale for like $40. They are waterproof and been great little hiking boots for them.

This is a great question. I have a small 12 year old and am in the same boat for looking for boots. Not to bad around home in NE Iowa our walks are short being a mile or so to stands but when he is 14 he will be hitting the mountain with me. Hope some good answers come up I know ill be watching.
