Blaze Orange Hat or Vest

I'm heading to WY this fall for a rifle deer hunt. Trying to decide if I should just go with a blaze orange hat so I don't have to mess with the vest every time I need to add or shed a layer. Or am I better off going with the vest and a camo cap so my head is broken up and a little less noticeable when I peak over a ridge? Of course maybe I should just plan on wearing both for safety's sake since we will be hunting public land. What do most of you folks wear to meet the blaze orange requirement?

In MT at least 400 square inches of visible hunters orange is required for rifle season. I would venture to guess Wyoming has a similar requirement. In that case, a hat alone wouldn't be enough. I usually wear a vest and my pack has a pull out blaze panel.

I typically wear just a hat since most of my hunting is in wilderness areas with not much pressure and relatively open terrain.

I'm jealous, I wish could choose one or the other - CO requires both. And I hate it.

Nanny state.

I have hunted in 4 different states that require hunters (blaze) orange either on the head, above the waist (vest) or both, during rifle seasons for deer and elk. If given the choice, I prefer wearing a hat or cap only. My personal favorite is a blaze orange Stormy Kromer, and depending on weather, either a Rancher or Original. If I'm forced to wear a vest, it is always as light weight as possible.
