Seeing the carfax thread spurred a thought, does anyone have access to blackbook that can give me a value of a car I’m thinking about trading in? Kbb and nada are saying conflicting things, vs my lender who assigned it a value. Just wondering if I can get a idea of what a dealer is gonna offer me before I go down that road.

You probably already know this (but if not) the dealership is looking at a wholesale value for a trade-in. The banks may be looking at a loan value which can be different, and then there’s a valuation for a sales price. Sometimes the sales price valuation will be different based on a private sale versus a dealer sale as well.

While there are more resources now to determine value-it is also a more convoluted process than ever before. Usually the lender will show you the book they use which my guess is it is Kelly’s.

Find someone with access to a Manheim auto auction report. That should give you an idea what dealers are paying for vehicles at auction in your area.
