Bishop Archery 4 Blade Mechanical: Mechanical Animal Drill

Just heard from Dr Sean at Bishop Archery that they have a new Mechanical coming out in 2017, probably the week after Easter.

It is rumored to be called the, "Mechanical Animal Drill." It is supposed to be of a very simple yet unique and revolutionary design that will allow a significant amount of tissue to pass over the blade. They put a premium on pass throughs and this one is supposed to give a great chance at passing through every animal in N America, including Bison. Due to its unique design and unique blade edge, it has a quite a lengthy list of patents pending. It will also be "legal in all 50 States."

Since Bishop has a lot of other heads hitting the market, including their new three blade fixed line up, all in weights from 100-600 grains, they are not able to get this Mech on the CNC for a while...so there are not any pics or specs yet. They are afraid competitors may try to make a cheaper version if anything beyond what I just shared is leaked too early.

I both love and hate "teasers" like this. I wish I could just get my hands on one and try it out. But at the same time, I am intrigued by what I hear. Since I was one of the first people to "win" one of their Dicing Drills in an AT Giveaway, and posted a YouTube review, I've stayed in touch with their designers and often get the scoop early I'm a broadhead junkie and love hearing innovative designs. This one should be really interesting...but like everyone else, I am waiting to see what really happens.

Why not post it? I thought this is a forum to post archery stuff. It's intriguing to me that they claim to have such a new design that it is both considered a Mech and is legal in all 50 states.

Bishop is a small American company, made by Americans. I support that 100% and I wish them well. In fact, I have considered buying some of the broad heads apparently made out of gold. LOL

However, the marketing shenanigans and constant borage of scientific nonsense will frustrate most of us on this site. I hope we are not going down that road on this site with this new mechanical. I hope Ryan will not play that game. Candidly (no hard feelings), your post sounds like the beginning of it.

The game of "Bishop becomes a sponsor, creates a new thread, ask guys to post their favorite grain head, or head in general, for a free head" and the game begins. The entire site is taken over by a bunch gear junkies trying to win a single head. It is simply not Rokslides style and it is Mickey Mouse marketing. Take a look around other sites and see how that turned out. not so well and likely turned off more "buyers" than it turned on.

With all that said, again, I am hopeful the small guy can survive in the shark tank of the broad head market and still would consider buying their heads.

If the OP looked at many posts he'd notice that a lot of guys on here are from Oregon and Idaho and always remind people that Mechanical/Expandable broadheads are illegal in both states. In Idaho it's on page 98 in the Regs stating arrows or bolts with expanding blades are unlawful. On ODFW's website the first thing mentioned for archery restrictions is •Broadhead blades must be fixed. Unless Bishop came up with a non expanding, nonbarbed, mechanical, fixed blade broadhead, saying it's "legal in all 50 states" is a lie.

Yep. They are still top tier. I am a broadhead junky for sure. But I do hunt, shoot, read, and test a lot, so why not share my findings?

It's not a lie. It's really such a unique design that they are not sure what to call it. It has less surface area than mechs but cuts more tissue than the majority of mechs on the market. Personally, I wouldn't call it a Mech, but then it's not like any fixed head on the market either. I do think it's the most innovative design to come out in a long time.

Not working for them. Just very intrigued by the creativity of the design. And I was very impressed with one of their other heads that I won in an online giveaway.

I'm not usually a rush-to-judgment guy. But based on what I saw on a different web forum from Bishop and the degree of braggadocio (along with the aforementioned scientific nonsense) and claims of proprietary everything...well...it frankly made me sick. I hope that stuff doesn't show up here.

For the record I hope Bishop succeeds. I just hope they turn the volume down on all the over-hyped claims.
