In the $1400 range, I would go meopta. I have seen zeiss conquest 15x56 go for that low on sale and would take that over meopta but its rare to see them that low.

I haven't looked through maven nor know anyone who has. You can get a "loaner" through their website. You buy them and check them out and return if you don't like or keep if you do.

By far the leupold santiam HDs - they are amazing. My buddy runs the new Swaro NL Pure 12x42s and we spent a week hunting together where I got to look through them side by side. I know its not apples to apples, aside from weight, I didn’t give up much. I did have an extra 3x, but never once did I feel like my glass was wanting. One evening he says there is an elk under a pine tree a long ways a way. I pull up my Santiam 15x56’s and was like dude, thats a rock. He didnt believe me, so I let him look through my binos. He was like, damn that is a rock…and was totally pissed.

ive been running the maven 18x this hunting season and they complement my 10x42 nls verywell. no need for a spotter imo if hunting tighter canyons or drainages. I can field judge elk out to 2000-2600 yards and mule deer inside of 1600.
