Bino harnesses

Hey guys I’ve been researching and looking at different bino harnesses I currently use a RYO harness but last year on a antelope hunt my Leupolds got sand all inside of them. I like the minimalist style ones. I’m currently debating between the kulu pro the sitka bino bivy and and the FHF. My only concern with the fhf is the way the lid flips but with having a rangefinder pouch on it it looks the most well built. I really liked the marsupial but the magnets screwing with gps systems kinda deterred me. So I was just looking for your guys opinions on these different harnesses and suggestions on other ones you like. Thanks

Man I've tried them all. Currently running the FHF with razco pistol holster combo, and I really like it. Very well made, and I would say this is the best option so far (that I've tried) for bino/pistol combo harness imo. Picked up an Adak last year, and ran that for a hunt or 2, and liked it as well. These have been my 2 favorites out of all that I've tried.

When I tried the sitka & badlands, I thought the magnetic closing was too noisy, especially for archery tree stand sits back here in MN. The Alaskan Guide harness I tired seemed to be too bulky for me for when I tried it, but my cousin loves it. If you are looking for a bino harness that fully encloses your binos, I would suggest the Adak. Just my 2 cents.

I'm a fan of the Outdoor Vision harness. I have been using one for several years now. The Alaskan Guide harness seemed to slip and loose position, I haven't ever had to touch the adjustments on my OV. It does have magnets for the closer but I can't get them to make enough noise that it bothers me bowhunting. The rangefinder pouch is a little louder with the magnets, but it still doesn't bother me.

FHF is a great one. They have good accessories...lanyards, rangefinder/gps pouches etc. It seems very durable and is holding up well after some pretty hard use.

I have the Alaskan Guide Creations and like the post above they slipped a fair amount. I bought the non slip buckles from them and that made them much better. I like them but I think my next one might be an Outdoor Vision.

I started out using a Cabelas strap system, no pouch. Just slip it on over my shirt of the day , put on jacket of choice and zip up jacket . It was super light and comfy. So then I stepped up to the KUIU Bino harness and I did not like it at all. One trip and done.

Now I am running the $ 29.00 Vortex pouch I got at Sportsmans. For it is wokring great its light has a little extra mesh pockets on each side.
I really like it.

Kuiu pro is a good one. Comfortable, and will keep the sand out.

I’ve got an original kuiu, FHF, and an outdoor vision. If you’re belly crawling or in a windy dusty environment the outdoor vision is the way to go. The other harnesses are stuck to truck or atv duty.

I’m using a Marsupial harness, really like it so far. Can get a GPS pouch from someone else without magnets.

I'm no bino harness expert but recently purchased the adak harness and really like it so far. Used it turkey hunting with my bow and it is very quiet and seems well made. No magnets. I will say that the bino lid works really well but the rangefinder lid doesn't close up as nicely. Good luck in your search

I had an AGC. I hated it for many reasons and sold it after one hunt.

I had an original Kuiu and I liked it’s low profile. It worked pretty well for me.

I have a FHF. It was the first one he made in Kryptek. I really like this one.

I just got the Kuiu Pro. This is my favorite out of the four I’ve had. It’s comfortable, lower profile and protects the binoculars better.

I use a gps so I don’t want magnets.

I like how the Kuiu rangefinder pouch attaches way better than how the FHF one does.

I like my AGC cub. You can pick on up used on this site and try it out. If you don’t like it you can sell for probably what you paid for it.

Didn't see this one mentioned. Give the Adak bino harness a look. You can find it on Blackovis. I've been using it the past year and really like it so far (coming from an AGC harness).

I'm confused here. I didn't think magnets effected GPS? Aren't they operating off of satellites? Plenty of people are mounting their phone onto their dash with a magnet and using it for gps while driving.

Have you had experience with magnets messing up a GPS? Really curious.

To be honest I have never experienced it. I just read reviews where others have and didn’t want to risk it.

If you are moving with the gps, your location is based off of sattelites. When you are standing still with gps, and turning in place to line up to a bearing, the magnets severely mess with the gps internal compass.
I set a regular compass on my desk top, and walked towards it with my Marsupial harness. when I got to 6 feet from compass, I could see the needle moving. 6 feet!! Loved the Marsupial, but quit using it because of that.

I was curious about this so I played with it. Two different Gps units, Garmin Oregon 600 and Garmin Astro 320. At first I couldn't get them to react to the magnets within either of my bino harnesses, I then got a heavy magnet which I was able to get them to react to while on compass mode. I then went back to my bino harnesses and if they were placed in them where my binos would normally be it would mess with the readings.

It's definitely something to pay attention to and something I hadn't considered. I don't think it would mess with it during normal use from what I saw today, however I'd be making sure to hold the GPS unit at arm's length to be certain it's not affected.

None of it should affect it other than when working off of the compass bearing.

Billy Goat, you are correct while moving, it has no effect.
Stationary, trying to line up to a heading, even at arms length, the Marsupials magnets are so strong that they effect it.
Like I said, at 6 feet away, the harness started to twitch my compass needle. As I walked closer, it would spin the needle around. I could not believe the magnets were that strong, and compass needle that sensitive.
