I used a g hook and some webbing to make a cross bar to prevent stuff from pushing through the gap in the frame. This looks better than paracord or arrows to me and works just as well. The problem is the ghooks (even the wave options) dont hold the webbing very well. I plan to just measure it and bar tack it. If its just tight enogh you have to put some elbow greese into getting it slid in it will work fine. The new k buckle might work even better.

That's actually a great idea, I'm gonna use SR buckles instead though, because I always carry an extra buckle in the pack anyway

I found that too much tension on my makeshift panel (mine is paracord) held my water bladder out flush with the frame. Once I lashed an animal to the frame the bladder would leak thru the o-ring. I ended up loosening the "panel" to allow the bladder to fit between the stays yet not come thru to the face of the pads. The bladder just nests in there.

Hey I tried SR buckles first. I didn't try it but just looking at it and messing with it... its seemed like the big buckles might actually push through and hit my back, which would be very irritating. With an SR buckle on each side, once tight the buckles almost touch each other, so they sort of span the whole gap if that makes sense. This was much tighter and the clips would never touch my back. Anyway, check it out maybe I am off.
