the big sky international revolution 3p. i recently bought this tent despite my apprehension about customer service as it was really the only tent with the features and weight that interested me. i received it in about a week. pitched it at home the first time and it was very quick. seemed solid. weight was close enough to advertised for me to take it in the field.
initial impressions were the smooth zippers, quick pitching, felt solid and space looked to be adequate.
so far ive slept 5 nights in it. the first was a damp still night, down along a creek. the 2nd a cold windy (15-20 sustained, 30 gust, estimated) and it was surprisingly quiet. it felt pretty solid.
the next 3 nights were absolutely wet. somewhere around 1in of rain per night. its held dry with factory seam sealing and with rain coming straight down, its possible to the leave the doors open.
simple, but the compression sack is very nice too. very easy to get the tent back into.
my scale shows 53.7oz in the sack.
inner tent at 18.8oz.
i have been using 6GH and 6 mini GH for stakes.
i will update this as i get more usage but im optimistic so far. i wanted to put this up as there was little info available about this tent before i bought it, when i was searching.
the biggest con so far, is its small. at least for me. i would say its a fair two man. big sky offers a 4, but its huge. if this was the two man, and they made a three man in between, i would buy that one, but they dont.
both L/W pads pictured
