Had originally intended to pick up a Kelbly Atlas Tac or Defiance Tenacity for a future .300 win mag BDL build (both offer wyatt's mag box cuts from the factory), but I've stumbled across a long action mag face Origin for a very agreeable price. Find myself tempted by saving some, both on the action and the barrel spinning a pre-fit on myself.

For those that roll their own, how much of a handicap would it be using a standard BDL magazine (~3.64" COAL max) on a typ SAAMI chamber if you had it in mind to feed it a diet of 215 Hybrids, 212 ELDx and the occasional 181gr Hammer?

@FlyingScot I stumbled on this lonely thread of yours and I'm curious what you ended up doing? I'm doing a .300 Win Mag build myself as a traditional rifle build and can't decide between the Bighorn Origin, Kelbly Atlas, Defiance Rebel or the Gunwerks GRB. I'm very tempted to get the Gunwerks action because a friend of mine will sell his to me for $500 but this is my first build and I don't know enough to decide between all these recommended actions. Someone else recommended the Lone Peak Razor action as well. So many choices!

I reached out to Zematt to see what the options were and the response was that if you want a hinged floorplate and need more than 3.650" COAL, the only option was to upgrade to the SR3 action. I had my mind made up to use a Kelbly Atlas instead, but came across a deal on a Seekins Havak that was too good to pass up, and that was that.

The Gunwerks is a well made receiver and a steal at $500 and already cut for the wyatt's mag, but just be aware it has an oddball thread pitch for the barrel tenon. Not an issue if you're leaving your action and barrel blank with a gunsmith for installation, but pretty much a non-starter if you're inclined to buy a prefit or use a barrel nut system .
