Best Ca legal rounds- 6.5 Creedmoor

Hey all,

Stuck in CA....

Just picked up a CA Mesa 6.5 Creedmoor. Being that I will be hunting in CA every year, when not drawn out of state, I was hoping to get input on CA legal ammo. Any suggestions on what to use? (I do not currently reload)

You’ll need to test a few with your rifle to see what it likes, but my 6.5 likes the Barnes Vor-tx line. It will get expensive to test a bunch though. I believe the Barnes are about $40 out the door for 6.5.

Barnes 127 gr lrx for me.

Sighted in my 6.5 CM with the hornady 143 eldx. Shot great. Didn't like the 120 gmx. Going to try the barnes 127 lrx.

i like the federal trophy copper and Vor-tx. both are really high quality and accurate in my rifle. I would buy 3-4 premium rounds and see whats most accurate and stick to that. good bullet placement is the most important thing by far.

Like you I’m stuck in CA (SoCal) and tried a couple of the monolithic offerings from Hornady (Superformance & Outfitter) and Federal before settling on the Barnes Vor-Tx.
