I am looking to book a Newfoundland Moose hunt for 2026 and have been talking with Pius about his outfitter. He has a walk in option because I’m not interested in a helicopter or small plane to get to hunting area. I am not looking for a trophy bill. My budget is not 15k. Pius seems honest and they have great success according to him. Anyone hunt with them before? Anyone have any suggestions for a moose hunt that does not require a fly in. Thank you.

I just went with Roberts Outfitters , it was fun . We all got Moose . Make sure you get the either sex permit , so you can shoot a cow if that's all you see .
But , in my opinion , you will see moose no matter who you use . Newfoundland is over run with Moose .

Thank you. Was Robert’s a walk in hunt? The one thing Besaws told me is they take 12 hunters per week. Seemed like a lot but maybe not. I am also looking at Next Ridge Outfitters. I will take a look at Roberts.
Pius at Besaws did say if we had two guys one would have a bull only tag and the other guy the either sex tag.
Thanks again.

Not sure what a walk in hunt means ? Besaws probably has a couple camps , I know Roberts does .
But you can drive to their camps , then they take you out in quads , where you can sit and call (which works great , most of the time ) or if you see them moving you stalk them .
I did both , both worked .

Sorry just meaning I don’t want to get in a helicopter or float plane to get to the hunting area.
That sounds like what I am after. Thanks man.

No problem, I’m glad to answer any and all questions, ask away .
In my opinion, Roberts anyway , they try to fit the hunt to the client , or the clients ability.
I plan on going back , it’s fun .
PM me I’ll give you my cell number

I hunted with Pius about 5 years ago. Had an excellent hunt. I flew out in a helicopter and took a dandy 51"/20 point bull. Hunting was much more tough than I imagined it would be as it was mountainous with that darn Tuckamore brush. Flying out is the only way to have a decent chance at a "Trophy" bull. The guys that hunted from the cabin when I was there all filled out with small bulls, Glad I went when I did as the cost sounds like it went up significantly!

Thank you. Good to hear about Pius. Seems like a good guy in my few conversations. Yes based on everything I have read flying is best chances of a trophy. I definitely know I am limiting myself by not flying. I’m ok with that.

I agree , the biggest bull I saw was 35 maybe 40 inches , but we couldn't call him off his cows . I shot a small 8 point .
But I knew going in I was not really trophy hunting . Still , a fun hunt .
