Bergara B-14 hunter recoil pad

Quick question, I almost feel silly making a thread to ask about it. How is the recoil pad on the Bergara B-14 hunter or ridge? I handled one in the store and the pad felt pretty stiff. The gun magazine reviews say the recoil pad is good, but they say that about literally every rifle that comes out.

Second question - if the pad is no good, are there aftermarket options available?
