Have multiple new builds in the works. Couple will be in xlr mag 4.0. I think I’m going to bed them. Anyone on here do theirs? Make a difference? Have pictures of what you did? Thanks
We have a lot of smiths around the country who are very meticulous and they do not bed them. With that being said you shouldn't see an accuracy decrease with a good bedding job so its a win win. When you are cleaning up the bedding try to keep from exposing raw material like inside of the mag well or in front of the recoil lug! I thought about bedding one just to do it but I get lazy and my rifles are shooting as well as I can already so I didn't want to put the time into it!Have multiple new builds in the works. Thanks for the info. These are 2 30 cals shooting 200+ grainers and a 338 for the 250’s. I just don’t want to be potentially chasing my tail with the bigger hitters and heard guys where bedding there’s but maybe it’s not needed? We have a lot of smiths around the country who are very meticulous and they do not bed them. Since I have you on here…. I sent an email but mine as well ask you here too. I have one of the brand new mag 4.0 with the upgraded hunter dbm bottom metal. And 2 of the 4.0 mag that don’t. I want to upgrade the other 2 as it seems way way better. My question is I’m a little confused on the magazines themselves. These 3 are all LA, can I use the standard LA hunter magazines or are the only magazines that work with your chassis is the SA chassis specific hunter mags. I would love to run the hawkins mags as I much prefer the flush mount for hunting. We have a lot of smiths around the country who are very meticulous and they do not bed them. The xlr/Hawkins mags are short action only. I just talked to Hawkins and begged them again to make a long version!Since I have you on here…. I sent an email but mine as well ask you here too. So there’s really no reason to upgrade my other chassis at this point. I can’t just DIY cut down the mag release and have almost the same setup as I still have to run aics mags. The xlr/Hawkins mags are short action only. I just talked to Hawkins and begged them again to make a long version!
Sorry man was out of the office this weekend! You can cut down the latch if that is all that you are worried about! The other upgrade on the new trigger guard is being able to adjust the the mag catch height to get a super tight lock up! On some magazines this isn't an issue while others have play and the hunter DBM really helps! So there’s really no reason to upgrade my other chassis at this point.
