Bear Protection Central Idaho

Is it necessary to carry bear spray or a handgun in central Idaho? We're talking somewhere a few hours North of Boise...

I wouldn’t worry about it, only black bears in that area.

I generally carry a side arm in the woods, but not necessarily for bears. You have to get much farther north or southeast of Boise to get into the big bruins (grizzly) .

No, not really an issue. If you're especially wigged out then get a can of bear spray and WEAR IT where it can be deployed- forget the sidearm.

I’m not, just didn’t know if Grizz were in central Idaho at the time of writing this. I’m not worried about it at this point. Great feedback on this thread. Thanks
