Anyone out there know of a great beanie? Ideally it would be windproof and soft to the skin, big enough to cover the ears and warm.

I am also looking for a midweight glove to go over a merino liner. Ideally it would be somewhat waterproof, warm, and not too bulky allowing me to wear my release and shoot with it in if needed.

OR or Mountain Hardware make anything like this? I do not want the KUIU gloves because they are only offered in camo. Would prefer a solid....

Lol I was just fixing to suggest the company you threw out in the end. Are you sure they don't offer the gloves in brown? Most of their gear is available as solids now

MH makes a hat called the Dome Perignon that is very warm, soft and windproof. 2.8ozs and comes in lots of color choices.

Best fleece beanie made in my opinion.

I just got the Hydra pro gloves from MH and I think you could use a release with them. You could just fold the cuff over a little.

Warmest beanie Ive worn is from rivers west. Its meets all your requirements and its really good at sheding water. My heads a 7 1/4 but covers ears and doesnt ride up. Thing I dont like about is it is harder to hear though than all of the beanies that i own which is a few. When i need a hat to keep me warm and dry its the one in my pack. I had mine for over 10 years so not sure if any changes have been made or what colors options there are
