I just bought a Seekins Precision Element in 6.5 PRC . They don't recommend a barrel breaking but they don't discourage it. What's your opinion about barrel breaking? I've never done it and I've had some decent accuracy in some of my rifles.

Did you read the dozen other threads asking this question?

I knew someone would say this. Rightfully so I suppose. . Yes I did. I'm thinking I'm not going to break it in. Just a little clean prior to shooting.

I think half of the time people are more likely to damage their bore than to do any good trying to break it in.

Run a few patches or pull a boresnake before you zero to get any factory gunk out then shoot it.

Based on what I've read, the general consensus, and my limited experience this is exactly what I'm going to do.

I’ve heard it done so many ways it makes my head spin… personally, I’ve done 1 shot, let it cool, 1 shot let it cool, the. A three round group let it cool and then I just shoot it… sometimes I run a patch through before just shooting stage and sometimes I don’t… that said, I’ve done the meticulous break in and this method and just shooting it method and I’ve noticed to difference in any of my rigs.

Best advice given to me was pick something and own it.

So whatever method you choose, own it and that’s what works for you. Consistency is the name of the game with this hobby. Whatever you do, be consistent with it.. sunless it’s bad habits, then don’t! Lol

It's like chicken soup when you're sick.

There is no concrete evidence that it works, but it can't hurt either.

I don't break mine in.
