Never found them that effective. Water always leaches in between your back and the pack. Dry bags or pack liner has worked better for me and is quieter.

What brand of backpack rain covers is everyone using? I've got a Timberline 2 that I'm looking to get one for.

I actually started the same thread a little bit ago and my girlfriend bought me a 80L from rei and fits my DT1

Sea to Summit sil cover. They have a shock cord and they have a strap that hooks between the shoulder straps and the lumbar pad. Pretty lightweight material, but I have been happy with it. Going on 3 years old now.
