Looking at a new sight for the new bow & the Axcel Landslyde Plus has piqued my interest.
Unfortunately I really like shooting a single pin, but I also really value a 4 pin setup as the majority of my hunting is in the whitetail woods.
I don’t have any experience with this sight, but was wondering if in order the single pin Axcel Landslyde, can I order just a 4-5 pin head & use the same tapes?
Would that even work?
I have a Landsylde and a few other Axcel sights.
To answer your question, you can use the same tape if you’re switching between a single pin and a 4 or 5 pin. However, you will have to adjust your elevation/zero and usually have to move your sight scale when you switch scopes/pin rings because your single pin won’t be in the same position as your top pin in the multi pin configuration in your scope housing.
If you’re only switching scopes or a pin once during hunting season, it’s not big deal to get your single pin zeroed. Move the elevation up or down so you’re on 20, move the sight scale and yardage indicator to the new zero/20 - and that’s it.
*UV sights are designed and have a middle indicator so you don’t have to do this.
I shoot a 5 pin scope for hunting, and a single pin for 3D. Axcel makes an AVX 41 and 31 scopes. The 41 is bigger and is going to be better for most people for hunting and 3D, but what size scope you like is up to you.
I have two scopes for my Landslyde, one configured with 5 pins, and the other is a single pin. It’s simpler to have a dedicated scope block on the scope rods for each scope so you don’t have to measure the windage when switching scopes. *The scope blocks lock onto your scope rod, and they slide in and out of the bracket on your sight.
You can also order a single pin ring if you want to just swap out the pin, on your scope.
