Never messed with athlon. Love my viper PST though. Never had an issue with it. Glass is the best I’ve ever owned. And if you keep an eye out on midway USA, you get get some killer deals on them. For the price, I don’t think that they can be beat. But, like i said, ive never even looked through an Athlon. I’ve found something that works, so I quit looking.

I have the 1st gen Viper PST FFP and absolutely love it. Great piece of glass. You can find the larger magnification 1st gen models for under $500 pretty easy, a super great deal at that price. There may be better glass out there for the price of a new PST, but in the used category they are probably the best scopes you can buy at the price point. Used or new, the warrenty is still good so you never have to worry about buying a used one as well!

I own 5 Athlon scopes all are great shooters. Running them all from 223 to 308.
