Looking to do a January 2020 OTC archery hunt in these units. I think we've narrowed it down to the northern side of 19A/southern side of 8. It seems like this area is a lot of juniper, sage flats with some elevation for glassing. That's all based off of OnX and Google Maps, has anyone hunted this are that can confirm that? Unfortunately living in Texas means I'm stuck to e-scouting.

That's about right, The start of the Verde river is the border between the two there are a lot of tributary canyons that run into it. There are some pretty deep ones that you can glass into. Some spots are flatter than others but you can find some areas that you can see a long way and there are a few hills you can climb up to do some glassing. If you If you have someone you can put high take a radio with you so they can walk you in. The Juniper can get pretty thick. There are also some pretty good Coues Whitetail Deer in both those units. If you are a true diehard Coues fan than these might be considered a hybrid because the are usually bigger than the Southern AZ Deer.
Good luck

Not much to add to this other than there are good access (Forest Service) roads and expect hunt pressure from the locals. One point of clarification, there really aren't sage flats in area you describe. It's typical pinon/juniper, as the previous poster stated, some of the cedars can be thick.
