What is everyone’s opinion in regards to the size of pins. I have always believed in aim small shoot small. My current setup has .19 pins. I would like to know advantages and disadvantages. Thanks!

I like .019 out to 20yds. Further out I like .010 because it doesn’t cover the target as much.
And don’t worry about where to post this. It doesn’t seem to matter anymore. There’s gun crap everywhere except the gun section.

First off, yes it does really matter- Rokslide even went to the trouble of making convenient labels of where stuff goes.

A lot depends on your eye sight. Smaller pins are harder to see and don't gather as much light in early or late shooting hours

Depends on the pin to me. Some companies use the same size pin but just size it differently for the fibers. If the pin is actually smaller I would use .010 for the bottom pin. Otherwise 0.19 is going to be much brighter. It makes a huge difference at last light if youre not able to use a light on your sight when hunting (most western states).

I prefer the larger .029's......they don't move as much as small pins, and it's real easy to center them on target and hit behind the center of the pin at any distance.

Personally, I shoot a 4 pin sight with top two pins .019 and bottom two .010".

Best of both worlds.

I'm in the same camp as Bump79 - I have a Black Gold Dual Trac (2) pins. Top pin is at .19 and bottom (slider pin) is a .10. I really like the setup. Also make sure you use fiber optics that your eyes agree with!

I ran .019 on my 20-50 pins and a .010 on my 60, which was also my floater, for years and it worked well. Last year I went to a 3 pin set at 27, 40, 50 all with .019 pins on the new Boonie sight. I shoot my best when I focus on the spot and not the pin and when doing that I really don’t notice a difference in accuracy with the larger pin as the floater, even at long distances.

If it’s a single pin, I like .19, multi pin sights, top pin .19, bottom pin .10 and the rest is preference

I don’t like .10 pins on a spot hogg, they are just too dim in a lot of situations, but on a mbg, you could almost always get away with .10

My current sight is perfect for me, I have been through a bunch… it’s a mbg inline 2 pin, top pin is 19, bottom pin is 10 and both green

If it was a 3 pin, it would likely be 10 on the bottom and the other 2 19’s, but that preference would change with different brands based on the pin brightness in different situations, but black gold has pin brightness dialed in all lighting

It all really depends on your eyes and hunting location. If your in dark timber at low light a .010 will be vary dim and hard to see. But in the wide open fields or open mountain side .010 will glow bright.
If you’re struggling to see the pin .019 will help. But it shines in early in low light situations.

I agree with the aim small miss small but each has their own time and place. I don’t think you can go wrong with either just depends more on where and how you are hunting.

Can you send in a aight to get it re sized? Or does it depend from manufacturer to manufacturer?

I have a 5 pin and they are all .19 and I would like to get my bottom 3 in .10.

It’s a Black Gold ascent verdict on a slide

Most manufacturers will sells replacement pins to swap out.
If you’re running some of the newer cartridge style scope, you can just swap cartridges.

I like .19s on closer pins and .10s on longer range pins - just not red .10s as I can't see them well.
