Looking for feedback from Archery Hunters on the HPG Kit bag.

This year, I did not like my setup for pistol carry, and having my Bino harness, and not having a good place for my rangefinder. In my head, I'd like a chest pack that would fit a small pistol (S&W 329PD), small binoculars (Swaro CL Companion or similar) and then to possibly mount a rangefinder on the outside. I want something that would stay attached easily when I take off my pack. I need something that won't interfere with my bowstring.

Anyone used this setup or have comments?

Thanks,
Brendan

Look at the Heavy Recon Kit Bag. The Pals field on the outside of this allows for things like a range finder to be attached. I have a Heavy Recon and can easily get a pistol, and a 10x42 bino in the 2 compartments, and then attach the range finder to the pals field on the outside.

I use the original kit bag, works very well with small compact pistol and binos. I also carry some basic necessities - such as headlamp, fire starting, navigation, WET WIPES. Does not interfere with shooting a bow whatsoever. It gives you a little more confidence when you drop your pack and go on a stock, and darkness may fall or other unpredictable events occur.

What are you using for your main pack? I know some of the packs with large belts don't lend to a hip carry very well, but I carry on my hip......or on the pack belt itself with a paddle holster. If I drop the pack I can always throw it on the hip easily. Then I run my bino's under my arm, and my RF in my front pants pocket. Keeps my chest clear.......can't stand being cluttered on my chest. Been doing this for about 5 years now, and seems to be the best fit for me.

Thanks guys - exactly what I needed. I will be picking up a Kit Bag of some flavor.... Now, I just need to fashion my custom "Bugle Scabbard" and I'll have my organization issues sorted...

5MilesBack: I use an EMRII, and tried the waistband carry then gun in a pocket on the waist band and then the bino harness on my chest and the rangefinder in the pocket and the bugle tube over the shoulder and bear spray on the other hip, mouth reeds in an arm pocket, gps in a leg pocket, and so on..... While it worked, it was a lot of crap going on. I feel like I'll either end up with a bino harness or a kit bag on my chest anyways - might as well try to combine, get organized better, and I'd like to go to slightly lighter / smaller binocs, and carry the spotter if I need bigger glass.

Brendan let us know how this works for you. What you describe is my exact problem during archery season. Too many gadgets everywhere. That heavy recon bag sure looks like it may solve alot of my problems as well.

Another note on the kit bag - as it has many uses, when Im fly fishing it serves as my chest pack, and works awesome also.

I use mine like Hike2hunt as well. Works great for fly fighing, pistol carrying, day hikes, whatever. Don't even know it's there. I've got the runners kit bag, to me its perfect because it's just big enough.
