have a completed lower needing an upper. Trying to decide on a caliber and upper. Been out of the AR loop for some time so even some suggetons on putting one together. Leaning toward 556 to get ammo but open to suggestions. Be for hunting dogs vs say just punching paper so trying to balance portability and accuracy.

I have a Stag 6.8spc that would do you right. Super accurate. Pm me if interested. Got 5-6 boxes of ammo too.

I shoot a 223 wylde right now. Killed I think 27 coyotes this year but also had alot of runners using the 60gr hornady vmax. I'm gonna switch my setup to the 224 valkarie.

On ar 15 lower I would go .223 lots of loads and bullet weights available and available factory loads, as to a AR-10 - 6.5 creedmore 22 in. heavy barrel, 1 in 8 twist, Just put a Stag arms together waiting on the glass to arrive. Then load development starts.

223/5.56 kills them very dead. The Larue match grade upper for $749 is a hell of a deal. You get a top tier match grade SS barrel on a badass billet receiver set with BCG and everything for half of what they could legitimately sell it for. I bought one a few weeks back and I’m thinking about buying a second just to have.

I'd go with with 556/223 Wylde as well. Take a look at Palmetto State Armory. They have lots of different complete uppers for sale. I've bought two that I'm happy with.

Was thinking on that one! I have never loaded for that one and with components getting tougher and tougher but def thinking on it hear good things

223 Wylde is just 223/5.56. It’s a generic chamber and is what most “223” and “5.56” barrels, uppers, and rifles are actually chambered with. You don’t do anything different than loading for 223.

You do not want to shoot 5.56 rounds from a .223 barrel, but you can from a Wylde. So no, it's not the same

Well no shit Sherlock, but 99.99% of “223” chambers are indeed cut with a Wylde reamer. Nevermind the fact that most “5.56” ammo is actually 223 too…

The .22 Nosler is superior to any caliber mentioned above, and is in a ar-15 platform

My faxon 223 wylde stacks um in there.
I built it myself, its the Heavy fluted 1in 8 twist. But I wouldn't hesitate to buy a complete upper.
So far its been more then acceptable with 77 and 55 grain.

Who sells 223 Rem (not 223 wylde) uppers still?

Even if it’s marked 223 rem it’s most likely still a Wylde chamber. Places like CLE and Craddock I’m sure will make you a barrel cut with a true 223 rem reamer though if that’s what you really want. Kinda silly to go to a premium like that when it makes no difference though.
