When I got my Ram, we climbed to the top of a mountain, about 200 yards high in West Texas. Wasn't the biggest mountain but with cactus and staying low, it was a climb while crawling on all 4's. We knew the Aoudad were in the valley below, and we literally climbed up the back side of a mountain.
We got to the top, and the herd was still in the valley, walking slowly from left to right, without noticing us. We had to stay low and get set up for the shot.
We setup perfectly & I took the front Ram, about 26". Total ambush from above. The remaining Aoudad were totally confused and started running up the hill towards us !!! They seem to run to high ground for cover.
Eventually we had to stand up to spook the Aoudad herd into the opposite direction. Then we climb down to my Ram, and took 1 shot and just died. Was a good day.
