Anyone shooting VAP RIP XVs with on game experience?

So, the title says what I’m looking for, but here’s the why.

I’m currently running a 300 Axis on my primary bow (VXR28, 75#) with a total arrow at 497 gr and 280fps. I shoot a 4 pin slider and use pin gaps for range estimate. I want my backup bow (SXT, 72#) to shoot same speed with a 400gr min arrow to keep pin gaps the same. I ended up with RIP XV 300s right at 400gr and 280fps. Given my goals, it required a very light shaft. I also wanted to stay with .204 components and IW collars. The XVs are 7 gpi and thin walled. I do not expect them to be axis tough, but I’d like to hear some experienced thoughts. The fellas at the shop liked them, but honestly, it’s not my normal shop and I want another opinion. The arrow build my my goals, so I plan to shoot a whitetail or pig with them either way.

Brent Hahn with Valkyrie tested them and decided not to offer them due to breakage on angled shots. He said on one of the podcasts that he thought they would be great for his system but they were not durable enough in his opinion. He joked that they broke before they hit the target on an angled shot in anticipation of impact. I have used them on bag targets and 3D targets and they seemed to hold up OK but have never used them on game.

I have used them, but not on game. Havent broke one yet and I have bounced a few off of 3D targets. I prefer the Black Eagle Rampages though as the quality seems higher and the IW components fit better than they do on XVs.

I will let you know how they do in April after my Nilgai hunt. However, I will have the ethics collar and insert system with them.

I’ve used 500 spines out of my 50lbs compound in the past. I thought they performed decent enough for deer. I shot two deer with them and had bone hits on both shots, the arrows were fine afterwards. I personally never doubted them and if I ever shoot my compound again those are the arrows I’ll be using. There are certainly more durable arrows out there though if that’s your concern.

ZDR-I am using the IW C10-D on 300 spine XVs. It was a tight fit, but I measured the arrow at .251” and IW list the inner dia as .254” on the D size. Drawback was that those collars are for 4mm shafts with deep six inserts. I used my VLD chamfer tool to open up the front end just wide enough to allow my FPs and BHs to fit. That was very simply, just be patient and work slow.

The ethics collars are a little small for the OD on the XV's, so I used a very fine sandpaper and gave each arrow a little buffing on the last 1/4'' until they slid on with a little force. So far all shoot straight and do not have wobble.

I use the same collars and have used both my drill press and a chamfer tool to open them up enough to accept normal FP/BH's. I did write an email to @Bill V and he replied that others had told him they were doing the same and he may start mfg them with the larger opening. I hope so. The most recent ones I ordered were still deep six.

We have opened up the hole on the front of our D Impact Collars so they can now be used on .204 ID arrows with standard heads. We are also adding two more collar sizes to fit more arrows. They are on our compatibility chart now and shipping soon.
