I've held both, but never used either. Looking for some input on which jacket is warmer. I know Kotaman has both and I read his review on bow site. Does the kenai have 90gram throughout or is it body mapped?

Looking for info from guys who have experience with both.

Thank you

I have both and will carry both into the backcountry. The kenai is much quieter all in vs the uncomp which is critical for me. That said the uncomp is a bit warmer.

I have the FL and I've only fondled the kenai that my buddy just got the other day from what I've seen dreamingbig nailed it.... Both very nice regardless

I can't speak to the other jacket but I just got the Kenai. I was really pleasantly surprised at how quiet and comfortable it is. The insulation varies in different parts of the body. It is less in the armpits and there are zippers in the pits also. I've only used it to shovel snow (in the teens for temps) but it seems to be an excellent piece. I have the Super Down hooded but don't see me using this anymore as it doesn't breathe as well, is louder, and all around not as comfortable as the Kenai. Definitely order a size larger than normal!!! I'm 6'1" 215lbs and usually wear an XL but after reading a few reviews I ordered the XXL and it fits perfect. I think this is gonna be a great hunting jacket September-December.:D

Is the kenai better for layering under a soft shell, i know the FL is more of an outer garment and not really ment to be layered under anything other than a shell jacket. I want a compressable puffy with a hood that can go under a Softshell.

I plan to layer my kenai underneathe a kuiu guide. I got the kenai in medium and the guide in large. Both the kenai and uncompahgre are great layering jackets but the uncomp is more versatile.

I received my Kenai jacket yesterday. I now have both the Kenai and Uncomp so I'll try them out of the next few days and report back. I already know that the First Lite scores high with me just because it can pull double duty for short bursts of rain. I was wearing it the other day in a -20C windchill with only a Patagonia better sweater on underneath it and it was toasty if I was walking around.

I've had a few days to compare both jackets so.....here it goes. I did most of the testing right around freezing temperature 32F. Wind was mild to light.

Breathability-Goes to Kenai but the FL has an ability to shed small amounts of rain so this is will make it slightly less breathable.

Warmth-Goes to FL. I will use the Kenai during opening week when below freezing is only an outside possibility at night. FL for a few weeks later when I might be wearing it full time during the day.

Fit-I have the FL in large and the Kenai in XL. The fit goes to the FL. I'm 6' 210 with wider shoulders and long arms and the Kenai almost had me worried that I had to go to an XXL which is crazy talk. Everything on the FL is where is should be fit wise, lots of range of motion, no riding up. Cuffs around the wrist are also way better on the FL.

Noise level-Don't matter to me, I have other clothes for hunting deer out of a tree stand.

Weight-Kuiu

Durability-FL

Hood-FL

In conclusion, I'll say I can't and won't pick a winner because I see myself using these for different times of the year. For me, this would be no contest if the FL made one improvement on this jacket......
PIT ZIPS!!!!

Hope this helps.
