My 17 L5P has 240k on it. Had some DEF sensor issues, one broken drivers side manifold bolt (nightmare), cp3 fuel pump went out, And also replace the turbo which it didn't need.

My 2021 has been an awesome truck. My only complaint is it downshifts a little to aggressive with a sub 10K trailer in the tow/haul mode.

This is my second duramax and fuel pumps keep me up at night. Ha ha. I hope I never have to experience that headache. On a side note I’m a past master of Everett Lodge #524 in PA.

Do you allow the computer to down shift for you in tow/haul? I talk the trans out of Drive and manually shift it with the shift lever. With the exhaust brake on I can shift butter smooth manually where as when I have it in Drive and touch the brakes it will down shift two gears at a time, not to my liking.

Maybe they will start replacing radio (touch screens) in the 2015-2017 1500 trucks that were total junk after a year.......

I will try this over the weekend and let you know. I don't mind shifting gears manually but I hate how the computer downshifts on its own as well.

I've owned 5 Duramax trucks. My current ride is a 2020 Sierra 2500 HD Denali. I'm not aware of any engine issues, but I can tell you the current generation is having extensive DEF system issues which have disabled a LOT of trucks that now await backordered and unavailable parts. It's a circular blame game between GM, dealers, customers, shippers, EPA, and the federal government. Nobody really takes accountability and owners are left with nothing to drive for weeks and months. I have finally grown tired and disillusioned with the diesel engine and their mandated constraints plus emissions reduction systems.

I've reached a considered decision to ditch the diesels once and for all. I've got a '22 Denali gas truck on order right now. My 2020 is still worth approximately what I paid for it (got a great deal) and will basically cover most of the '22 I'm ordering.

I have a 2020 Chevy 3500 High Country with 15k miles and have been dealing with a rough idle/excessive DEF usage that now has turned into what feels like a misfire when driving., no engine codes displayed. The dealer original said the rough idle was normal but now agreed there is a problem. I was towing a 14k 5th wheel up a long hill at 65mph when my truck began to buck back and forth violently I had to slow to 40mph and barely made it up the hill. My wife was in the truck and even said what the hell what that???? I went to the dealer today to inquire about a buy back option and was told the service manager would call me. Well by the end of the day no call..... to be continued

People are going a little crazy on the Duramax Forums speculating whether their trucks will be on 'the' list. For that matter, none of it is reality until GM initiates the program. One thing it is definitely doing is to cause lots of negative talk on the DM engines.
