Which one do you have? I’m looking to get one of their 2 person ones for some backpacking and pack rafting trips I want to do in the near future. I’m on the fence with the DCF models, that really hacks the price right up and I don’t think I’d even notice it.

Specifically is there a model that is A fairly roomy for 2 people and B fairly good at keeping bugs out?

Thanks!

I recently purchased the Double Rainbow. I am really surprised how much room it has and very light weight. At only around 2 pounds it should be really nice this fall.

I would recommend listening to this podcast with the owner of Tarptent. He really explains about tent materials. The DCF doesn't have as long of a life span according to him. It's a good listen.

Im running the SS1 this year, way more room inside than any other 1 man ive used,2 vestibules that open entirely, around 2 pounds. Bug net un clips in seconds so you can run it as a floorless.

I like my double rainbow a lot as a solo shelter in milder conditions. The weight to space is pretty tough to beat for a floored shelter. But I'm not sharing with another dude, no way.

If I shared it, it would be with my wife.

Thanks, I’ll download that. Cardio day tomorrow so I’ll listen to it during the workout.

I have the protrail and think its a great, quality product. I've had 2 in it before, but don't recommend that!

I had a Tarptent. It was a two-person tent that was a previous iteration of the Motrail. It was a decent tent. But, definitely not a 2 person tent. Very similar in room and layout to a BA Fly Creek UL 2. Any more, the one door thing is a deal breaker for me if there are two people.

I got a kuiu summit refuge here, not sure if it qualifies as a tarp tent or just a tent, but it's worked great so far. Would work for 2 people.

I don’t have a Stratospire 2 but I did plenty of research to find the same thing you are looking for, and it seems to be a pretty clear cut winner.

If your partner isn’t your wife/SO I would seriously look at a 3 person tent, the only legit 2+ option that’s labeled a 2 appears to be the SS2. And the Durstin XMid2, but good luck getting one of those.

I just picked up a Stratospire 2 for this season to try out. It looks pretty tight for two but I'll be using it with my lady. Two doors and two vestibules will be nice.

SO Eolus with nest would be really similar as well and I might have gone that route but the lead times we're too far out. Thats not a complaint about SO(quality takes time!) just that I drug my feet and the season slipped up on me!

Ive had a SS2 for years and use it for backpacking with the wife. We are smaller people 5'7 but it fits both of us and our 70lb labrador no issue, and huge vestibule space. Bombproof in wind and rain. Only downside is it needs 2 trekking poles and a somewhat large area to pitch.

Tarptents are awesome. I also use the bowfin 1 for hunting and I can pitch it anywhere in 30 seconds. Light and durable.

I've got a TarpTent Cloudburst 3. Back when I bought it was the best volume per ounce I could find. It would be perfect for a backpacking trip with my wife. I've shared the space with hunting partners no problem.

I have a cloudburst 3 for family backpacking with the dog too. I use a bowfin 1 for solo trips and archery season. Both are bugproof.

I like the design and how easily these tents pitch. I have quite a tent collection to compare against.

and tarptents are USA made.

I'd rather get Made in USA from Seek Outside.
Still several of the TT sil tents being sewn in the US. Unless they changed in the past few weeks. Their DCF tents went overseas and a couple of their sil tents. The SS2 is made overseas now for one. Seek makes great shelters, but apples to oranges comparing the TT tents to floorless SO shelters with heavier nests.
