I have a Timberline 1 I purchased from another forum member in July. It's in a great shape but has a strong cologne or fragrance to it I just can't get rid of by airing it out. Going hunting in 3 weeks and I would like to get rid of this scent as much as I can. Any suggestions?

Soak it in white vinegar mixed about 1 cup per gallon for an hour minimum, rinse then wash with woolite. Let air dry in the sun. Worked perfect for me, I accidentally left some winter gear in a cooler that somehow water was in, everything smelled musty and had a little mold on it. The Vinegar kills the mold and neutralizes the smell, should easily take care of any smell.

Once fully washed and dried out you do not smell the vinegar at all. If you want you can do two hand washing a with woolite.

I have some dead down wind wash I hand wash it with in the bathtub or a trash can. Works good for me.

I put a weight in my old Badlands pack and sunk it in a trash can full of water with baking soda or baking powder, get those two confused. Let it soak overnight. Then air dried. Some good sports soap would probably be a good idea too since you actually have a smell you want to get rid of.

Sport Suds on Amazon. This stuff works miracles. Blue and white container. I soak mine in the bathtub with hot water for about an hour. Done!!

Had the same situation with an old express I purchased from another member. Smelled of cats and fabreeze or something. Soaked it in a tub with baking soda--one of the main ingredients in scent blocker--for hours and it did nothing. Then I washed it with odorless detergent and baking soda and it took the scent right out.
