Hey guys new on here. Has anybody on here tried out Oregon pack works packs? Orion, green gate or wholeshabang? I’ve tried them all on and they feel very comfortable but they don’t seem to have the advertising like a lot of the other high quality packs have. I was looking to do a little research on other people’s experiance with them before I make my mind up completely with a hunting pack. I’ll be hunting primarily archery elk here on the coast of Oregon (aug-sept) and coastal black tail bucks (oct-early nov) pretty much polar opposite weather conditions normally. If you havnt used the OPW packs what pack are you guys running? And if you like them or not! Thanks in advance! And hello everyone!!

I ran a Whole Shebang for a couple of years (in between a Mystery Ranch and a Stone Glacier).

Pros:
The fabric (quiet/rugged/waterproof), craftsmanship (on par with MR), and design (harness and modularity is well thought out) and overall company support.

Cons:
The stays were too flexible (i built new ones out of thicker 7071), the belt was not the best (Kifaru and Stone Glacier are miles ahead).

In the end a Kifaru bikini frame with a nomad and a horizontal pod create the same pack but with a better frame and suspension (but a touch noisier in the brush).

Welcome Dawg, I see this is your first post. I don't have any experience with the OPW packs, but tater gave you some pretty good info. In regards to what everyone else is using, spend some time in the backpacks forum and you'll find a lot of info about packs. You can use the search function to look for specific information, but you'll find that lots of guys on here are using Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo, Seek Outside, Mystery Ranch. With most of these packs, you get what you pay for, and quality doesn't come cheap. Good luck in your research and hunting adventures.

I am also an Oregon hunter and had OPW, it was my first “high end pack” and was an upgrade from what I was using but as started above the stays and frame in general left a lot to be desired couldn’t ever get it fit right. Went to the kifaru bikini and nomad and found out what a good pack should fit like.

The biggest pro with any of the name brands is the resale value, OPW was not a good investment as I bought high and sold low!

I was pretty set on getting an OPW pack as I have and love an OPW BinoBro and Range finderBro. Do a little more searching on here. I think I found 2 or 3 posts mentioning them and basically if your going to use it hard enough to justify the cost you’ll wish you’d have bought different.

Still love the BinoBro and could find nothing bad to say about there customer service (I received a have written note from the owner in the packaging wishing me good luck with the upcoming season)
