I found a classic for elk camp this year. I believe it’s a 1960’s Sears Ted Williams 9x16 Canvas Tent.

It’s in great condition for the age. Anyone have one of these back in the day?

That's cool. Never seen the tent but I bought a S & R Ted Williams Model 100 lever action rifle (30-30) off an old guy in TX 25 years ago

Awesome. My uncle has a Ted Williams 12 ga that has seen plenty of use

Not sure if it was a Ted Williams tent or not but I slept in one that looked like that as a kid when my grandparents took us camping. My brother has our grandpa’s Ted Williams 30-30

We have a tent very similar to that one it has to be at least from the early 1960’s. We love that it’s very sturdy and large, but damn it’s heavy.

Cool tent but I don't see that taking any kind of snow load. Might not be the best for elk camp up in the mountains but hey it may work great if the weather cooperates.

Haha yeah I’m sure you’re right. I was just kidding we’re just gonna use it for family camping trips.

With the weight of these canvas tents, you aren’t packing it into the mountains without one mule dedicated to hauling just it and the poles. They’re very sturdy in the wind and have taken snow storms in western VA well but more than 6” I would be concerned. They’re a great family tent for extended camping due to the room and height.

Lots of cool old pieces of equipment in this thread. I have a signed copy of his book “fishing the big 3”, I also have an old baseball card of him holding a fish.
