Well,
New here after stumbling onto the site....actually Arron Snyder mentioned it on the Gritty Bowmen podcast and I think that's what made me look. Regardless of how I found it, I'm here now. Great site, just scratching the surface so far but it's helped me so far and I look forward to much more info gleaned.
So, growing up by the beach near Destin, Florida and spending the past 20 years south of Houston begs the question, why am I here? Well, I have loved the mountains since I can remember and even lived in the smallish mountains in north Georgia for a couple short stints back in my 20's but had to chase the $$ so I live here in Texas. I have hunted since I was kid and have mostly hunted big game with a bow. I have backpacked and hiked parts of the Appalachian trail, Yosemite (both hiking and snowshoeing/winter camping), the Big Horns in Wy., and all over the world.
I will go this year for my first elk hunt in Colorado, on public land, and I am about as stoked as I can be. My deer hunting buddy has been asking me to go with him for the past 5-8 years and I am finally able to go. As is common, I am addicted...is that possible since I have yet to go? I can hardly think about much besides backpack elk hunting, I'm driving my wife nuts, lol. Well, enough rambling.....great place and I'm thankful for the site and the wealth of knowledge. I feel that I am far better equipped than if I had never found Rokslide..........
