Well found this site and have to say after lurking a bit.. Seems like a great site to share stories and info. Ive particpated in some other outdoor forums but none seemed to compare.. I recognize several screen names here and its nice to see those folks.. Hope I can contribute and learn a few things too..
About me.. I am originally from Philly, moved to Alaska in 1989 to chase a dream and became a hunting and fishing guide.I was very fortunate to do both and remained a hunting guide till not so long ago. I also shot semi professional archery for a while winning several state and sectional titles.. Love the outdoors and I love ALaska.. I love sharing Alaska. ALaska has been good to me both in personal life and professional. My Wife just had(three weeks ago) a little baby girl after a long complicated pregancy.I have two other kids, a 13 yo daughter that came into my life whenshe was 5 and my son 4yo who is my little side kick.. Looking forward to getting him out hunting..

hmm.... as I recall, my tip led you on a wild goose chase and a long sidehill up into a valley that only held a few undersize sheep.... What exactly do you "owe" me again?

LOL yes but the potential was huge and you went above and beyond in offering help and that speaks volumes to your character.. that and you had something to do with communications at a certain place so I now get almost play by play action from friends in the field..next best thing to being there...LOL

Congrats on the new little one 60x and welcome. Ya, it's kinda fun around here. I like reading about all the other backpack hunts these guys do in the lower 48. I sure hope to do one for elk someday. These guys humpin elk out of the mtns at 12-14k must have some lungs! I went skiing in CO last winter and boy, going from 500ft in Fairbanks to 12-13k was an eye opener!

Thanks Snyd, yeah Ive been looking through lots of great posts and Im with you and a western elk hunt does sound like a lot of fun.. I bet that must of been quite a change for your lungs, Im glad most of our critters stay well below that
