Annealing question

Have a new to me annealer and I'm gonna start my first batch. Found an ever so slightly doughnuted piece of brass. Can I use this as my sacrificial piece or will that impede how it analyzes the brass?

As long as it fits in the appropriate pilot, it should be fine.
