Read that term in a recent post. What could that mean? I go through through the brands? Sleep around? Not faithful to one? Hmmmm. Let’s see. This fall on an archery elk hunt I will be wearing or packing:

Ex Officio
Black Ovis
True Timber
Prahna
Redhead Scentinel
First Lite
Mountain Wearhouse
Sitka
Costco
Kuiu
Cabelas

I’m so ashamed!

Who else is a big gear slut? Shane on all if you. Let’s see your lists.

You are only a brand slut if you aren’t consistently successful because many are without the labels.

I bet each brand has a scent detected by game.
It is like trout fishing, you have people that walked out of Orvis dressed to the 9’s and then you have the people who catch fish. Not sure scent plays into it. I guess some people want to match and accessorize is the outdoors as well. Different priorities.

Kuiu
Swazi
Tru-Spec
Scarpa
Blaser (guns, their clothes are made for skinny Germans)
Swarovski (optics, I wish I had the $$$ to only use Swarovski, but I still have a lot of Japanese optics).
Toyota (though the next full size truck will be a 1 ton Ram because a Tundra can not tow a mountain).
Pornhub because the wife doesn't want me spending $$$ on someone elses titties.

When I’m in the tree stand I wear sitka, under armour, scheels, cabelas and arctic shield…. The whitetails don’t seem to mind the mismatched camo

Given what the original term means.......I'd say that in the gear context it would be someone that will use whatever brand is available to them at any given moment. Just make sure though that no one is paying you to wear it or gives the gear to you, because that changes the term completely.

My favorite brand is I don‘t give a rats butt what others think. I still wear stuff I bought from Cabelas in the late 90’s. Have a fair amount of KUIU items. Have some Mossy Oak. Wear some stuff bought from The Gap, Costco, Mountain Hardware, Marmot, etc. I generally try not to worry much about other mens attire. To many other legitimate things to be upset over. Like what caliber they shoot:)

I don’t think there is one single brand that gives me everything that I want in outdoor clothing. Commonly we look to our brand and thank yeah this is cool or this fits me or this is what I want to be. The downside is that we are often misguided. As companies will misrepresent features of their products to make a buck.

As long as your ensemble doesn't clash with your $500 boots, you're good to go.

What if they were $500 new to the first owner, but $100 to me from classifieds they’re so old? No joke.

Most of my stuff is preowned. What’s new is mostly clearance, last season etc.

I’m just cheap. And I don’t match. And don’t care. Money is for draw fees, airfare, gas, and tags.

Dude, I am the same.

The only reason I have any high end stuff is because I got it on sale. The problem is it severely messes up your shit-sifter when looking for new gear.

I like to buy the like new / never used Kuiu and Sitka off the classifieds. Not for sure how you spend $100s or $1,000s of $$$ on gear and never use it.

I’ve got a random mix of brands. Even some non-hunting brands. I like to have the best piece for that situation BUT if you like brand X and only want to wear it. Have at it. That’s your preference

First lite
Sitka
Outdoor Research
Kuiu
Under armor
Crispi
Scarpa
Stone glacier
Patagonia
