Son drew a permit for a cow and asked me to post this:
I luckily drew a DE713 elk tag and was curious if anyone had experience with this area and where elk may be located? I’ve heard of several people flying into Malina lakes and huntingthat area without a native access permit. We plan on camping with an arctic oven and know what this hunt is like. My main questions are where the best spot may be to camp for access given that there a quite a few lakes in the area for float plan access, is it worth it to buy the access permit to double our area, and what the deer population is like as a few of my partners may have deer tags in their pockets. I’ve never hunted on Afognak before and only on Kodiak years past.
Thanks, for any help.
