Aftermarket tikka stock, which one you buying?

It's personal preference and hard to know what you are going to like without shooting or feeling a bunch of them. Hunting stocks not listed in any order:

Manners - right now the ProHunter and LRH are the two hot stocks.
McMillan - right now the Mountaineer (couple versions) and the Game Warden 2.0 (two versions, I prefer the TG)
MDT - CRBN or the HNT26
Peak44 - as mentioned above, great stock, I too do not like the butt pad and that they won't cut for other actions
AG Composites - Alpine Hunter good stock, just doesn't feel as solid as the ones above
Pure Precision aka Mesa - good stock, at one time AG made it but I don't know if that is accurate any longer...the grip is fatter, more of a handful
XLR - 4.0mg...it's metal and I'm not crazy about where my thumb needs to go...it's just not as comfortable for me personally, great stock though
RokStok - can't get past the look, I know they shoot well because they look so ugly they would've never caught on if they didn't improve the shooting haha...it's like my ugly shoes theory, look for the ugliest shoes...they will be the most comfortable otherwise they would never sell haha

Go to the range...if you see something you like, strike up a conversation with the guy...most of us will let folks shoot our rifles and love showing them off. Good luck, I've come to the conclusion that I'm a McMillian guy but I did recently put together a MDT CRBN 22 Creedmoor that I'm excited to shoot...I really like what the stock offers in it's weight class.

For all around use I really like the Felso BH-1. Developed by Ian Robertson in the 1990's, and then when he retired Felso bought the molds and continues to do a great job on the layup.

To me the BH1 feels kind of like a Gunwerks Clymr, but with a better palm swell.

No shortage of great options for the T3 platform these days!

I have tried a heap but still yet to find the perfect fit for me.

i have a Peak 44 bastion due in about 8 weeks and have a couple of the stockies vertical hunter
Will be trying the mdt h26 at some point but i generally dislike a chassi
Can you expand on why you dislike a chassis? I am in a similar boat to OP, I am looking for a new stock for my Tikka 7-08. I might actually be one of the few who don't mind factory stock, but I'm just not a fan of plastic.

I have been strongly considering the HNT26, but I have never used a chassis rifle. I did have the opportunity to see the stock without an action or barrel in my hands at a gun shop. The quality seemed great; it was not easy to get a complete picture of how it would be with an action and barrel installed.

I think stock choice really comes down to the style of hunting one does. I live in the Rockies and predominantly hunt whitetail, but every so often, I have the opportunity for mule deer and a little less often moose and elk. I typically hunt WT with my bow, but definitely enjoy the odd rifle hunt, as well my wife and friends' only rifle hunt. When I do hunt whitetail with a rifle I am usually still hunting, how would a chassis work for that? are they comfortable enough to carry all day or would I want a different stock for that? I'm only a couple hours away from Wildcat Composites.

For those using the HNT26, is it comfortable to carry in your hands all day? I like the idea of how compact it can be. It would always be in the truck in case I decide to change my quarry for the day. I will have the Tikka shortened to 21", I prefer that balance. I think I could swap the stock over to a Tikka long action if I have hunt planned for bigger game?

Sorry to sorta highjack the post OP, I think we are in the same boat.

Since you are in Alberta, @Prairiekid check out Wildcat Composites.

Very similar geometry to factory, just made out of high strength composite.

Lighter too by at least 1/2lb. Great quality - I've been using Stu's stocks since he was building race car parts under a different business name over 20yrs ago!

Okay thanks!
The Blacktooth is on a 6.5CM, tikka super light fluted barrel. I forget which barrel channel I got for the stock, but I purposely got the channel for a wider barrel profile. I have plenty of space, so may not like how much space I have aesthetically, but I think it’s fine. It’s not a ton, it’s just right to meokay thankyou! Anyway could maybe see a pic looking down on

yeah man no worries at all, I will start that ive only used chassis in big cals an i am very interested in trying the new Mtngear nz chassis on my 6cm

But i found them aquward to use and worse to carry, i had the same issue with the ar's i have had.
They get snagged more on any little branch, very cold to the touch and i think give a higher recoil pulse, when prone i just never felt i could get comfortable behind them

Thanks for that feedback. I am looking for some feedback on the chassis system regarding hunting. I never get to lie prone for a shot when hunting. But how they carry when in your hands matters a lot. If it's on my pack all day and only comes off for the shot or only comes off when the hiking is done, that's one thing.

I guess the attractive part is that it's still quite compact when folded, it should be less than 30", as it is not legal for me to hunt with a suppressor.

Yeah man being able to fold it up is why im wanting to try the new one coming out, technology is always changing. With shooting slips and open tops for most of my hunting prone shots are very common.

Is there a newer folding chassis coming out?

The buttock is horrible looking, not sure what’s going on there.
