Got another family we like to travel with that wants to do a photo safari, but I am going to hunt if I go to Africa. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place that caters to both?

Jan Olefse Hunting Safaris in Namibia. My grandpa was good friends with Jan the original founder. His son runs it now. family and friends have hunted there a few times along with myself.

They have a none hunting resort/safari business also called Mt Etjo Safari Lodge. So they definitely can cater to both. They have nightly Lion and Cheetah feedings, photography safaris, off property trips etc.

I would recommend 100%. Also, watch the John Wayne movie Hatari! Jan Olefse was the main animal handler and controlled the animal catch scenes in the movie.

I've gone Hunting with Cape to Cairo twice. Once in south Africa, second trip was to Namibia. I've had a fantastic time with Cedric. His wife runs a safari business that we plan on using for our honeymoon eventually(can't remember the name). He is going to work with me to hunt everywhere we go when we decide to pull the trigger.

I forgot to mention Cedric goes to a lot of the SCI shows, so it's been nice being able to talk to him in person. He's usually at the Alaska SCI banquet every year.

Thanks for the lead, but us going to one place and the other family going somewhere else is not what I asked for

I'm sure anyone I call can sell me a hunting safari, and also sell me a photo safari

Im asking for 1 place that offers both

They are located on the same grounds and not to say they won't allow the none hunting family to base out the hunting camp or you to base out of the none hunting side. They did have a separate accommodations for the hunters as most photo safari groups aren't super hunter friendly. We hunted there but went to some of the "non-hunting" activities. And a couple days at the end of our hunt we stayed at the "non-hunting" accommodations but still went hunting...we just didn't carry our guns from the vehicles to our cabin like we did at the specifically hunting focused lodge. I'm sure if you contacted them they would be able to figure something out.

If you look just at the hunting site they list scenic tour type stuff and "none hunting" activities as options.

I hunt Africa a lot, anyone needs some names of who not to use let me know. Who you use depends on what sort of hunting you want to do. They are all very different.

That is amazing. I may check back someday. This is in my 5 year plan. Would want to hunt Sable, Eland, Grants, and Waterbuck. Also some predators if possible

Grants is going to be expensive, have to go up to Tanzania and that's never cheap. They are super cool! Drop me a PM anytime, we go every summer.

One of my best friends.... Andre Viljoen. Total pro, has done it all. Actually has his own PH academy. Also has great connections in the wine country, and knows every national park. I've hunted with home 4 times over the years.

I’ve never been and never had aspirations to, that is until last year I had a booth at the CO sportsman’s show right across from Romano and his wife. I spent 4 long days working next to them, getting to know them and they are the nicest folks I’ve met. All the other outfitters I’ve encountered seem fishy but Romano and his wife are some nice family people who seem to be running a quality operation. If I ever make the leap to Africa I’m going with them.

I would look for an outfitter east towards Kruger is someone wants to do photos. All hunting in South Africa is very different the Eastern Cape is very wide open Limpopo is very thick hunting in the bush up and close. Anybody who just throws a name out without asking exactly what you're looking for really isn't helping. Some Outfitters will shoot off the truck, some will shoot at the water holes, some you better find a track and get off your butt and start walking 10 miles. Not all Outfitters and areas have access to the same animals.

Some Outfitters are very serious, some are great time and funny to be around, some like to drink some don't.

The best option is probably to come down to Nashville to SCI spend two days and talk to a bunch of Outfitters. If you decide to let me know I'll introduce you to a few I know.

There are huge price differences between the Outfitters as well, I've seen some of the big corporate ones listed on here the charge customers way too much for what they provide.

Ever want to have a serious talk feel free to drop me a PM we can talk on the phone one day I won't necessarily tell you who to go with but I'll tell you the questions you should be asking.
