I'm sure some hunters will ask what the heck is that? Guys, using an Advertising Technique is a very deadly way to call in bulls, I'm talking about ones that bugle very little or not at all, you hear them once or twice early or late & after that you cannot get them to call back to you with anything you throw their way! This is a great method to consider at this time. Doesn't matter early Sept or later on. This technique creates curiosity in bulls & they mostly show up silent, point is they come your way with a good setup & calling strategy, there are no cow sounds used in this method. It's just another tool to add to ones arsenal when times are fairly quiet with little to no rutting going on!
The Breeding Sequence is our favorite, this one flat kicks butt! We imitate a smallish vocal herd with the sounds they would make as cows near estrus, this is especially so with the bull taking charge vocally as he does his best to maintain order in the herd as he keeps close tabs on the cows nearing estrus. The herd bull at this time is very vocal with his bull sounds as he does his best to keep the hot cow in his eye sight, he will scold her if she gets to far away especially when in the timber. -- This is what many bulls are waiting for come Sept. Imitate this sequence & you'll have more close encounters with elk coming your way than you've ever had in the past. It is extremely deadly when used at the right times with the right sounds & intensity.
Paul II (my son) & I have called in & killed countless elk over the years with these two methods, all on OTC Public Land hunts. Most here know we put out Instructional Elk Info & have done so for many years, we've just finished a couple more DVD's, the 1st being this Advertising & Breeding Sequence. We show why, when & how to use both of these in calling setups. This can aid you in this years elk hunts, you can bet we'll be using them again! Here's a short clip on the Breeding Sequence that is in the DVD. Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks!
