So I’m have a conundrum. I’d like my 870 to be a slug gun. For hunting brushy stuff mostly. Likely 75-100yd shots, maybe 150 at most.
I have a really good Leupold shotgun/muzzy sight that I could use. Also I do shoot open sights fairly well with a muzzy. We are going for
Accuracy here so…
1. Buy cantilever barrel/sight and put the scope in it? Carlsons or Remington?

2. Buy a new barrel with adjustable open sights?

3. I’m not sure I like the idea of a saddle mount for the scope because I’ve heard bad things…

I run a hasting canteliver barrel on my 870, ran it for 14 years now and have never had it lose zero switching barrels on and off. I shoot horandy sst or Winchester platinum supremes. The SST have been great the last few years for accuracy. I wouldn’t hesitate to take a 150 yard shot with my setup

I had some consistency issues in my 870 with the cantilever. Had to eliminate it, pin barrel and mount to receiver. But it’s a shooter fir slug gun
