I recently acquired a sako 7mm rem mag rifle from my father. What rounds are you guys shooting for deer to elk? I've always liked the federal premium vital shocks with sierra gameking bullet but they are no longer available. Any recommendations? 150g...165g??? I don't reload so looking factory ammo. Thx

Congrats on a great gun!

With a bonded 160 gr you will be as well prepared for anything in the lower 48 as any hunter can be. Many of us use that combination for trophy antelope, then high country muledeer, followed up by an elk in the freezer.

Hornady ELD-X 162 shoots well out of several traditionally twisted 7mm RM I tried them in. On game performance on deer and elk has been fantastic.

The Norma Bondstrikes I tried shot very well, but haven't been able to get them lately, and haven't tried them on game. Based on previous experiences with Norma bullets, I expect good things.

My Tikka T3 SL likes the Barnes 160 grain TSX. Shoots sub MOA and has killed everything I have shot with it. Mostly Whitetails.
